Introduction
TVS Motor India has today (November 19) launched a new top variant of its popular bike Apache RTR 160 4V. The new variant has been priced at Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the most expensive variant of the bike. The Apache RTR 160 4V is now available in a total of 7 variants. Its new variant will compete against Hero Extreme 160R, Honda Hornet 2.0, Pulsar N160 and Pulsar NS160.
The new variant is introduced with shiny gold colored upside down (USD) front forks, stubbier bullpup exhaust and three new color options. These include Granite Grey, Matte Black and Pearl White. Apart from this, red colored alloy wheels have been given to the updated bike to give it a sporty look.
Design: Bluetooth supported instrument console
The appearance of the new variant of the Apache RTR 160 4V is similar to the existing model. It has a muscular fuel tank, single-piece seat, split grab rail, adjustable brake and clutch lever. The bike features a Bluetooth supported instrument console, aggressive LED headlights with LED DRLs.
Performance:
No mechanical changes were made to the bike with a top speed of 114kmph in sport mode. As for propulsion, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V features a 159.7cc, single-cylinder, 4 valve air/oil-cooled engine, mated to a 5-speed gearbox for transmission. Along with this, three riding modes are available – Urban, Rain and Sport.
This engine generates 15.64 PS of power and 14.14 Nm of maximum torque in urban and rain mode. Whereas, in Sport mode it generates 17.55 PS of power and 14.73 Nm of maximum torque. The top speed of the bike is 103kmph in urban and rain mode and 114kmph in sport mode. It also gets Glide Through Technology (GTT) with race tuned fuel injection system, adjustable clutch and brake lever.
Braking, suspension and features
For a comfortable ride, the top variant of the Apache RTR 160 4V features a new Up Side Down (USD) fork at the front and an adjustable monoshock unit at the rear. For braking, the rear wheel has a 240mm disc brake.
Talking about the features, the motorcycle will be available with TVS SmartConnect system. It includes features like turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, race telemetry, adjustable brake and clutch levers, lean angle mode, crash alert, low fuel warning and voice assist.
